A cake for my Mother in Law's birthday. I had a lot of issues with this cake. I was rushing it and wasn't happy with the cake before icing as it didn't seem to be quite level, this was made all the more obvious when it was iced plus there was a bit of stretching to the sugarpaste around the edge. Despite all this the finished product looks good and the Birthday girl loved it. You win some, you lose some! :)
Here are some great Christmas cupcakes we made for the lovely people at Clive Christian to wish the girls that work on their fragrance departments a Happy Christmas.
Here are some beautiful vintage cupcakes we made for Vicky. She wanted a selection of cakes with a vintage feel to give to one of her friends to celebrate her Birthday. We made these pretty blue, white and pink cakes topped with birds, bows, roses, flowers, chandeliers and bird cages. Did I tell you how much I LOVE vintage cakes. Oh yes, I did!
Heidi contacted us as she wanted to surprise her husband with a box of cupcakes for his 40th Birthday meal. John is a massive MCFC fan so we made him these cute football inspired cakes with MCFC crests, footballs, scarves and personalised football shirts. Happy Birthday John!
So this weekend was my Mum's surprise Birthday party. Me and my sister have been planning it for months but she threw a spanner in the works by going into labour and giving birth to her baby in the back of her husband's car the night before the event. The party went on without them (sadly) and I made my Mum this pretty vintage style lace rose cake. All went well until after the speech when the cake stand decided to fall apart and the cake dropped onto it's side on the table and head towards the floor. Good job it was caught in the nick of time! It came off relatively unscathed to be honest and friends and family have enjoyed eating it today. So a stressful but enjoyable weekend and a lovely addition to our family, baby George.
Helen wanted a box of 24 cupcakes for her Dad's 70th Birthday. He's a fan of golf and gardening so we made him this cute box of buttercream grass and "soil" cupcakes with golf flags, seeds & seedlings, trowels, golf balls, bees and flower pots. Helen loved them and sent us this feedback:
"Thank you soooo much for the gorgeous cakes. Dad is made up with them. He thinks they're too good to eat! I agree xx"
Emma asked us for a tower of cupcakes for the joint Birthday party of her daugher Eva and son Noah. As it was a Disney and Superhero fancy dress party, Eva's side was a "Tangled" Rapunzel theme with picture toppers, icing chameleons and Rapunzels' plaits. Noah's side was decorated with spiderman faces and photo toppers. Happy Birthday Noah and Eva!
Alice asked us to make her a pretty box of cupcakes for her sister in law to wish her Congratulations on becoming Mrs Davies. We made her this beautiful box of cupcakes in the bride's wedding colours, white and dusky pink all tied up with a pretty lace bow.
I'm in love with vintage cakes right now and have always been rubbish at roses. I've had a go but never really had the knowledge or skill needed so I decided to treat myself to a place on a large rose course in Nottingham. I really enjoyed the course and brought home this beautiful pale pink sugar rose. I think it's pretty good for a first attempt - it needs refining and I need more practice but considering that ribbon roses were all I could make until yesterday, I'm thrilled with the results. Now I just need to practice, practice, practice!
Clare and Mark married last week in sunny Cyprus. They were also having a party for friends and family back in Manchester and wanted us to create something pretty with a flower/butterfly theme to match their sage green and cream colour scheme. We made them this tower of 100 cupcakes plus an ombre rose topcake. Clare sent us this feedback:
All I can say is WOW!! They were amazing...thank you so much xx
Ayesha's sister and some of her friends wanted to order her some surprise hen party cupcakes. We made this cute box of 24 cakes with personalised edible icing pictures of Ayesha, some of her favourite 80s films and singers, L Plates and an icing crocodile! Congratulations Ayesha and Robin!
As much as I like making novelty cupcakes, they don't really "do it" for me. My heart belongs to these vintage wedding cupcakes that I made for Ben and Justine's wedding in the Lake District. The soft colours, vintage china and bird wrappers work perfectly together. Expect to see a lot more vintage cakes from now on!
Clare wanted some cupcakes for her son Raphael's 1st Birthday. Raffi loves Waybuloo so we made her this cute box of cakes with each of the charaters on a cake. Clare was thrilled with the cakes and sent us a cute photo of Raffi with his cupcake tower.
I made these super cute rainbow cakes for my friend Mike to celebrate his Birthday which happened to co-incide with Manchester's Gay Pride weekend. Mike sent me these amazing shots that he took of his cakes and I didn't feel like I could keep them to myself as they are gorgeous! Take a look at more of Mike's work here.
We made these super bright rainbow cupcakes for Mike and John to celebrate the Manchester Gay Pride weekend. The transparent cases give away what is hiding underneath...rainbow sponge!
